Content transmission specialist GlobeCast has announced plans to expand its worldwide fiber coverage in the Middle East.

The company used its presence at the Satellite MENA tradeshow to reveal details of a new link into Jordan Media City (JMC) in Amman.

“Jordan Media City has proved itself capable of providing flexible and cost effective solutions and is one of the most dynamic media cities in the region,” said Georges Baroud, director, GlobeCast.

“This is another step towards integrating the region fully into our worldwide fiber network infrastructure.”

The connection in JMC will be the first cable link to extend from the media cluster, outside of Jordan itself.

“We have worked with several partners in the region and the obvious next step was to integrate those into our global fiber network,” added Baroud.

“As well as providing infrastructure for companies housed within JMC, GlobeCast will also be able to use the network for its own business as part of its global network.”

The DTM fiber network is HD ready, fully redundant, offers, increased bandwidth with a growing number of points of presence across the globe.

Baroud added that JMC was a natural choice given its existing ties to the company.

“Presently, the Jordan Telecom Group provides the last leg of fiber at JMC. GlobeCast and JTG have the same mother company, France Telecom. Being able to share some infrastructure is obviously a big advantage.”
