“Don’t send us more sales people. Send us people who understand the technology and provide local support,” Whittaker said during his address to the CABSAT conference on Tuesday.
The Showtime VP of broadcast operations and technology provided an overview of the likely challenges facing the local broadcast industry in the transition to high definition services.
Several key companies participated in the seminar, which was sponsored by the UK Trade Fair.
Speaking about the UK pavilion, Mark Birchall, managing director of the UK Trade Fair said: “We had a total of about 75 companies under our pavilions this CABSAT. We have had a 15% growth in the number of companies since last year. It’s a clear indication of the close ties between the British broadcasting companies and the region.”
