The fifth annual Digital Studio Awards, which were staged in Dubai last week, honoured the leading lights of the Middle East broadcast and production industries.

The glittering awards ceremony, which was staged at Dubai’s Jumeirah Beach Hotel, attracted more than 250 industry professionals, including representatives of Platinum Sponsor Hitachi and Key Industry Sponsor Dubai Studio City, as well as local industry giants including Abu Dhabi Media Company and Arab Media Group.

A total of 14 awards were handed out on the night, with the prestigious Systems Integrator of the Year award going to Doha-based Salam Media Cast.

In the hotly contested Production House of the Year category, Déjà Vu outdid all. Despite the tough competition and the international acclaim attached to the other companies in the shortlist, this smaller production house is gradually making a name for itself as a company that produces work par excellence, bringing together the right team of directors and DoPs for each of its projects.

The evening concluded with Egypt-based Systems Design being acknowledged with the special Editor’s Choice Award, which recognises outstanding contributions to the industry over the past 12 months.

Spearheaded by Ahmed Gamal, this company had taken on several projects for systems integration in the last year for various companies in Egyptian Media City, including Aamal Establishment, FM TV, Asila Playout Centre, El-Saeeda, Safa TV and Moga TV.

Walid Akawi, CEO of ITP Publishing Group said “We are proud to hold the 5th Digital Studio Awards and are delighted with the level of interest and participation that the industry has shown this year. The awards reflect Digital Studio’s standing in the Middle East’s broadcast and production industry and it is our pleasure to give something back. The winners were well deserved and our congratulations go out to them all.”
