Technology provider Harris will continue to add to its Middle East staff base despite the economic slowdown, according to Said Bacho, managing director, Harris broadcast.

The company is currently looking to add two new service engineers to its locally based personnel despite many companies in the sector looking to cut costs.

“So far the opportunities in this market have not been affected,” said Bacho.

“However we should expect some change in this volume moving forward,” he said. “We have to remain vigilant and realistic and be cautious about how we sell and how we spend.”

Bacho believes that the companies that emerge from the slowdown will be stronger than they were previously.

The nature of the market has also led to clients scrutinising their investments more carefully, bringing added importance to after sales services, he commented.

“These two new hires will mean that our after sales staff represents half of our total workforce in this region. Customers are looking for more than the best price. They need a strategic partnership that can offer them reassurances over the future of their purchase. We are in a good position to offer those assurances,” claimed Bacho.
