The New Zealand television production sector is in the spotlight this week, with a group of the country’s leading production houses touting their collective capabilities at the Dubai Lynx TVC trade event being staged at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.
The delegation, which includes Auckland-based animation house, Yukfoo Animation, Batch Film Limited, Curious Film Limited, Film Construction and IDC, is taking part in the event with the support of New Zealand Trade and Enterprise.
Yukfoo Animation recently won five Pencils at the Australian Writers and Art Directors Awards 2008 and nine Bullets at Young Guns 2008 for its work on a TVC campaign for gaming giant Sega, which can be viewed below:
The company also recently completed a spot for the launch of Vodafone in Qatar.
The event marks the first-ever showcase of New Zealand’s TVC production industry in the Middle East. Wayne Mikkelsen, New Zealand’s Consul General and Trade Commissioner, expects the foray to strengthen the country’s partnerships with the GCC broadcast production industry.
“The Middle East is witnessing unprecedented growth in the television production sector,” he said. “Through their participation in Dubai Lynx, New Zealand companies are looking to form business collaborations with the region’s media production industry.”
New Zealand is known as a small but influential hub of the global digital effects and CGI production sector, with notable credits including The Lord of the Rings trilogy; The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe; and King Kong.
