MBC and E-Vision ink key licencing deal

Etisalat's E-Vision gains exclusive rights to distribute MBC's channels in the UAE

MBC Group has granted Etisalat’s E-Vision exclusive rights to distribute its set of channels in the UAE.

The deal, which was signed at MBC Group’s HQ in Dubai Media City yesterday, makes E-Vision, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Etisalat, the main point of contact for any sub-licencing of rights for MBC Group channels in the UAE. Under this agreement, eLife customers will extend their access to some of the most popular TV programs in the region, on-the-go via Etisalat’s eLife ON companion application.

Starting from this month, eLife will offer two additional channels from MBC Group. The two new channels MBC+ Variety (a premium English language channel) and MBC+ Drama (an Arabic Drama channel) will be available through Etisalat eLife service, eLife (IPTV- Large Screen) and eLife ON companion App (Small screen)- whereby customers will access all of MBC GROUP’s HD bouquet of channels.

Additionally, eLife customers will gain access to an exclusive channel ‘MBC+ ELIFE’ that was launched earlier this week. Moreover, eLife customers will be able to gain access content from Shahid, MBC’s video-on-demand service in the MENA region and Shahid Plus at no extra charge to their IPTV package, and via the eLife ON App, which is also available free to all eLife customers.

Fadel Zahreddine, group director of brand management, MBC Group, said: “This is another milestone in the strategy that MBC Group has set out to partner with telecommunication operators to bring a complete value offering to consumers. This partnership shows our commitment to strengthening the collaboration between media and telecoms to enhance the whole user experience”.

As a pioneer and trusted content aggregator in the region, E-Vision is constantly striving to bring comprehensive turn-key solutions for content aggregation and content management for IPTV platforms and multi-screens (OTT).”

The signed ceremony was held at MBC Group’s headquarters in Dubai Media City in the presence of Humaid Sahoo AlSuwaidi, CEO of E-Vision, and Sam Barnett, CEO of MBC Group who both signed the agreement. It was also attended by a number of directors from the two companies, headed by Fadel Zahreddine, group director of brand management at MBC GROUP; Khaled Elkhouly, chief commercial officer at Etisalat; and Jonathan Haysom, vice president of home product marketing at Etisalat.

E-Vision now holds exclusive IPTV carriage rights to all MBC HD channels including; MBC1, MBC2, MBC3, MBC4, MBC DRAMA, MBC MAX, MBC ACTION. elife customers will also have exclusive access to MBC+ channels such as, MBC+ DRAMA and MBC+ VARIETY.
