Steve Smith, the chief operating officer of Arabian Radio Network, is leaving the company to return to his home country, Australia, next month.

His successor, Greg Worthington, who Smith helped to appoint, joined ARN a few weeks ago to become accustomed to the role. Smith, who joined ARN in 2008, has overseen major growth and the launch of several radio stations at ARN. Smith is in charge of all operations including programming and sales of all nine stations. The announcement was made during the Business Breakfast programme on ARN’s Dubai Eye 103.8 radio station this morning.

“My family and I both professionally and personally have had a tremendous time,” Smith said on the Business Breakfast show. “This is a wonderful, wonderful environment. What I will miss most is the drive. The leadership in this market really does set a culture of expectation that you have something new up your sleeve all the time. I think going back with that attitude is going to work well in a very mature market like Australia.”
