The first edition of the Doha Tribeca Film Festival will be held from October 29-November 1 at the Museum of Islamic Art in Doha, Qatar.

The film fest is the result of a collaboration between Her Excellency Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, daughter of the Emir of Qatar and the Tribeca Film Festival (TFF) founders, Jane Rosenthal, Craig Hatkoff, and Robert De Niro.

The partnership between TFF and the Qatar Museums Authority (QMA) is meant to help promote Middle East culture thought films produced mainly in Qatar, but also the rest of the Arab world.

Several identities from the global filmmaking industry will be invited to participate in the festival, which will include family-friendly events.

Long-term, the festival will aim to support young filmmakers while also providing a platform for future educational and mentoring film activities and investment in Qatar.
