U2's LED masterpiece

Massive LED screen the centrepiece of Irish act's current world tour.

Display manufacturer Barco has released behind-the-scenes production footage of the 52-tonne LED screen that forms the centrepiece of U2’s current world tour.

The 360 degree screen is made up of 888 hexagonal panels containing approximately half-a-million LED pixels.

The automation and control system for the screen was engineered by Kinesys, and allows for the screen to stretch and compress, dramatically altering the size and appearance of the display.

Below, see interviews and footage of the production crew at work on this monumental project.
