Al Mazroui, a key Belden distributor in the GCC, was recently contracted to provide speaker cables for audio and HD hybrid fibre camera cables for a key broadcast installation at the upcoming Meydan racecourse.

The racecourse, designed to be the new home of the Dubai World Cup, is scheduled to launch in 2010.

“These cables support SMPTE 311M, which means it is HD-ready,” said Ali H. Fakih, marketing manager for Al Mazroui.

“The Middle East market is now actively migrating to HD due to the clarity and quality of the content delivered and as we supply the entire range of HD cables, we have secured several deals in this market.

Most of the requirements nowadays are either for video cables (RG59 / RG6 / RG11), triax, hybrid fibre or tactical fibre, which is used for indoor, outdoor and mobile applications such as outside broadcast.

“In this particular project, we had to supply the cables within a very short time. Based on market demand, we have a huge stock inventory and so, quick delivery was possible,” he added.

The deal is only one of several secured by Al Mazroui in recent months for different facilities including LIVE Broadcast Production & Facilities, Abu Dhabi Media Company, twofour54 and Etisalat.
