James Cameron's Avatar: [Don't] believe the hype?

Video teaser augers well for future stereoscopic 3D production.

Three months out from its official release, the trailer for James Cameron’s ‘extraordinary’ stereoscopic 3D feature film Avatar is wowing internet pundits.

The US$237 million film is Cameron’s first as director since the monster that was Titanic in 1997.

The film features cutting-edge 3D production and performance capture techniques including a new 3D camera system conceived by Cameron.

The production also marks the debut of Cameron’s ‘virtual camera’. The technology employs a handheld monitor that Cameron used to walk-through 3D scenes in real-time and record certain aspects as live-action sequences.

From the below trailer, do you believe the hype is justified? Let us know your thoughts.
