The first digital intermediate (DI) facility in Lebanon has opened, bringing a boost to the country's content creation industry.
Post-production and film lab The Gate recently expanded into larger premises and has taken the opportunity to introduce DI into the Lebanese market. DI allows material shot on film to be easily converted to a digital format during the post production process.
“We witnessed a strong demand for high-end post-production and many of our clients were asking for higher definition options,” said Sten Walegren, managing director, The Gate.
“DI is still rather unknown by most people in production but there is a need to adapt to a different way of doing things through a data centric workflow rather than traditional tape-based systems,” added Walegren.
The Gate also manages Kodak Cinelabs Lebanon.
