Top officials at Sony Corporation have addressed a report published by US-based market analyst Wainhouse Research that claimed the manufacturer planned to abandon its videoconferencing business in the Europe and Middle East markets.
“This information is only partially true,” Masahiro Soga, senior general manager, marketing division, B2B solutions Business Group, Sony Corporation, told DPME.com.
“We have not seen much interest for these products only in the European market so we will discontinue the range in this sector by the middle of next year,” he stated.
Takashi Miura, general manager of Sony Professional Solutions Middle East, confirmed that the videoconferencing business in the Middle East will not be discontinued.
“In the Middle East and Africa sector, we will continue to roll out this line as it has been profitable in the region,” he clarified.
Several key figures from Sony Corporation and end users from the Middle East are presently attending the manufacturer’s road show in Dubai titled Power of Images. The event runs from December 15 to 17 and showcases some of the newest launches from the manufacturer including the PMW-EX1R and the EMW 350 cameras in the XDCAM range.
