Al Jazeera International has awarded a contract to Qatar-based systems integrator, Salam Media Cast to install a Harris Nexio server at its headquarters in Doha. The servers will be used for archiving agency feeds in HD format for the channel.

The Harris NEXIO system at Al Jazeera International channel consists of four NXS3600HDX servers with over 30TB of storage. Al Jazeera International Channel retains the video feeds in high definition on a rotating basis for up to one week as a means of backup using the NEXIO server.

The NEXIO server allows Al Jazeera International Channel to record four incoming 24-hour agency feeds simultaneously.

This system can record high definition and standard definition and output both standard and high definition, where required.
