Morocco’s public broadcast network 2M has replaced its existing intercom system with a comprehensive Riedel Artist digital matrix intercom solution. The new system integrates 16 regional 2M broadcast studios via IP into the communications infrastructure.
Sanae Benlhabib, chief technician at M2 stated that Connect IP ”adds a lot of flexibility to our daily workflow”.
“The ability to directly integrate all our regional studios will be a large step forward in how we manage our broadcast operation. Artist is ideal for our needs and the installation was very easy as well,” he stated.
At the heart of the installation are two Riedel Artist 128 mainframes connected via a redundant dual fibre ring offering up to 1,024x1,024 non-blocking ports. The frames are equipped with redundant power supplies, AIO connections and VoIP client cards.
16 of the network’s regional studios and its Casablanca facility are equipped with 67 Artist 2000 series and 23 Artist 3000 series control panels. 2M uses 17 Riedel Connect IP interfaces to integrate the remote control panels of the regional studios. The Connect IP units allow for matrix-to-matrix connections and matrix-to-control panel connections as well as for the distribution of audio lines over IP. The interface converts one AES3 stream into compressed IP data and vice versa, thus integrating the whole installation.
