Noorsat backs-up World Cup coverage

Noorsat has been selected to provide the Al Jazeera Sport channels with additional capacity to back-up its coverage of the FIFA World Cup. The broadcaster will also use the Noorsat teleport in Bahrain as an alternative transmission facility.

The cooperation aims to ensure that the landmark sports event is broadcast with continuous and reliable transmissions, said Noorsat.

“We are proud to be in collaboration with Al Jazeera and support its plans to ensure reliable for broadcasting for the World Cup audience,” said Omar Shoter, CEO, Noorsat.

The operator has previously provided satellite capacity Al Jazeera Sport’s coverage of the UEFA European Championship in 2008 and the Asian Games in Qatar in 2006.

The World Cup is one of the most-watched TV events globally along with the Olympic Games.
