UAE-based telco du has announced that it will offer IPTV subscribers selected movie titles from its on-demand library for AED 1 (US $0.27) during the summer.

The company launched its video-on-demand (VOD) in December 2009 after upgrading its cable TV customer to the full IPTV service, du TV+.

“During the summer months, UAE residents like to spend more time indoors. We are committed to making everyone’s weekends as entertaining as possible,” said Farid Faraidooni, CCO, du.

The service features a range of first-run Hollywood, Bollywood and Arabic films, which can be viewed for up to 48 hours at a time. Six new movies will be added to the 1 AED offer each week.

The standard pricing for its VOD movies is AED 7-12 ($2-3) with high definition movies charged at AED 19 ($5).

Du TV+ is based on the Microsoft Mediaroom platform.
