Hip-hop artist M.I.A may walk away from a performance at Saturday’s Big Chill Festival in the UK empty-handed.

A source told Britain’s Daily Star newspaper that the festival bosses could legally refuse to pay her because she broke the terms of her contract and put people in danger.

M.I.A’s set was cut short by organisers after 200 fans rushed the stage after being invited by the artist to join her for her hit Paper Planes.

Some in the crowd complained of being crushed against the railings during the fracas, but no injuries were reported.

The source told the Daily Star: "By inviting the audience on stage M.I.A. was in breach of her contract. The organisers don't have to pay her anything if they feel she endangered people, it's all there in black and white."
