Hamlet will be launching a new plug-in module for its FlexiScope family of handheld test and measurement appliances. The new module adds the capability to generate high-precision test signals, included alphanumeric identifiers and embedded audio, in SDI and HD-SDI. The same module gives access to a comprehensive range of measurement displays on the return signal.
"While we already offer handheld test signal generators in our Protean Axiom and Protean Index products, our customers told us that it would be very convenient for them if they could have a single device that created a test signal and measured what came back," said Steve Nunney, director of Hamlet. "We called our handheld system FlexiScope because it is designed to be flexible, so we were pleased to develop this new module in response to our users."
As well as slotting straight into the FlexiScope the new module also works with the smaller version, the MicroFlex, and can be used as an identity module in the latest range of Hamlet's fixed digital instruments, the MonitorScope and the DigiScope 9000 series.
In parallel with the launch of the new module, Hamlet is upgrading its existing HD/SD and SD/composite modules with additional display functionality, again in response to user requests. Engineers can now select from three modules, and existing FlexiScope and MicroFlex units can be upgraded at any time simply by swapping out one module for another. The new product is being demonstrated at NAB in Las Vegas.
