Major studios choose Dolby Digital Plus

Dolby Laboratories has announced that Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, Universal Pictures, and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment will encode thousands of movies and television programs in the UltraViolet Common File Format (CFF) using Dolby Digital Plus, the premium audio standard for mobile and connected entertainment.

UltraViolet provides consumers with a unique way to conveniently enjoy their movies and TV shows. By taking full advantage of the benefits of the cloud, consumers can download and stream their entertainment collections anytime, anywhere for viewing on TV screens, personal computers, tablets, and mobile phones. Once the UltraViolet CFF launches later this year, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, Universal Pictures, and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment will deliver thousands of movies and TV series with Dolby Digital Plus sound. Already the choice of leading online movie services that deliver surround sound, Dolby Digital Plus ensures that UltraViolet consumers can enjoy the experience the artist imagined. Dolby Digital Plus is currently enabled across more than one billion devices in the marketplace.
