Riedel Communications, has announced that Jacqueline Voss, system engineer in the company's broadcast solutions area and a part of the Stratos team, will present "The Red Bull Stratos Case Study: World-Record Technology for Broadcasting, Transmission, and Distribution" at Broadcast Asia 2013.
Scheduled for 16:20 on June 20 at the Marina Bay Sands, the presentation will provide a comprehensive overview of the technology that helped to bring the record-breaking supersonic skydive by daredevil Felix Baumgartner live to an international audience.
The Red Bull Stratos project recently earned a Sports Emmy Award in the category of "Outstanding New Approaches Sports Event Coverage." During her presentation, Voss will discuss the complete production, including the recording done in the capsule that took Baumgartner to the edge of space, as well as the on-board video control system for nine HD video cameras. She will explain how Riedel gear supported a multiviewer with live camera and monitoring signals and examine the capsule's radio installation and signal distribution infrastructure. Finally, Voss will outline how the MediorNet fiber-based real-time network used for the transport and routing of HD video, audio, communications, and data signals on the ground reduced the time, cost, and work required by the Red Bull Stratos team for installation and maintenance of the system.
