Dubai-based documentary filmmaker, Mahmoud Kaabour hopes to raise the standard of corporate films and documentaries produced in the UAE through his new company, Veritas Films.

“The creation of Veritas Films was inspired by the rising need for corporate films by Dubai-based businesses,” commented Kaabour. “A corporate film should be different from what we are seeing in Dubai today, where the quality of production may be high but the content is not. Most corporate films end up looking like commercials. They have little research depth and rarely ask CEOs the right questions. This could be because there are too many cooks in the kitchen. The ad agency does one bit; the director is flown in and at the end, the local flavour and sensibility is lost.”

Kaabour hopes to take a more holistic approach to producing films. “What we will provide is a more organic and holistic product as it will be produced under one roof. We understand everything here as we are from Dubai and know it street by street, alley by alley. Our development department will analyse clients’ data, mandates, and achievements and help develop content-accurate documentaries that are well-scripted and also look good.”

Kaabour claims his holistic approach has won him projects from The Ministry of Presidential Affairs, The Executive Affairs Office (Abu Dhabi), Dubai Investments, and Dubai Holding subsidiaries.

Vertias Films presently operates out of Media City but hopes to move to Studio City within a year.
