Deluxe, which has recently opened its first ME office in Dubai, may already be familiar to readers for its ‘Colour by Deluxe’ credits on Hollywood blockbusters – it has provided colour grading and VFX services to some huge hits, and according to CEO and president Cyril Drabinsky, it is also the world’s leading 2D to 3D conversion specialist.
The company’s work doesn’t stop there, however. It offers services through every stage of the production, post and broadcast workflow. From on location services through grading and editing, right up to its cloud-based broadcast playout platform, Deluxe Media Cloud.
Drabinsky says: “We can do everything but capture the image on the production post-production and distribution pipeline for feature films, TV commercials and shows. A lot of people have heard of deluxe because of the film side of our business, but that’s just one piece of the equation.”
Drabinsky sees likely early hits in the region coming with its Media Cloud broadcasting platform, which a key local broadcaster has already signed up to, and the digitising of the region’s archives: “If you look at our work with libraries over the years and the trust that studios have with our product, translate that into the market here with all the libraries that are in need of either digitisation or restoration I think there’s a tremendous partnering possibility between ourselves and the people in the region,” he says.
