The film world is currently awash with rumours that the latest Star Wars instalment, Episode VII will be filmed in Abu Dhabi with various locations reportedly to be used to recreate the desert planet of Tatooine, home of Luke and Anakin Skywalker.

While Disney, who bought the franchise, has made no comment - the news was originally broken by The Hollywood Reporter, which claimed shooting would start around mid - May, lasting four weeks.

The fictional Tatooine has been a mainstay feature in all but one of the Star Wars films, with Tunisia being the location of choice for all these occasions. However sources now indicate the change in filming spot has been made owing to the political climate in the North African country being too dangerous to house a big Hollywood production.
