Dubai-based post-production house Blackstone Studios, which relocated to Dubai Studio City last month, has installed Flame 2009 at its new facility. The US $1 million investment will create a more robust 3D compositing environment for Blackstone Studios and enable it to produce advanced graphics at a much faster pace.
“This install is in keeping with our plans to improve the pace at which we do compositing,” explained Ramez Hindi, executive producer at Blackstone Studios. “The market is growing. There is a lot of demand for work in the real estate sector and commercials as well. We were using Fusion before but have replaced it with Flame. This was our original intention and so, we’ve had a Flame artist with us from the beginning. Flame is a lot quicker than any other competing software in the market so if it helps you to do work twice as fast as anything else out there, it will be the obvious choice for a serious post-production house.”
Blackstone, which initially had four people at its office in Karama, Dubai, now employs 15 people at its 3000 sq.ft facility in Dubai Studio City. “We’ve been really busy over the last year as there is a lot of demand for 3D work in the region’s real estate sector. But we hope to be a full-on, Hollywood-style post-production facility within the next five years and are looking to gradually add all the necessary services from film processing and scaling to grading and processing to enable this to happen,” added Hindi.
