Canon Middle East has unveiled the PowerShot G7 X, which it describes as its “most powerful, pocket-sized camera to date”.

Joining Canon’s growing large sensor, premium expert G-series, the PowerShot G7 X offers DSLR-style creativity and the freedom to capture powerful images in every situation thanks to its 1.0-type back-illuminated 20.2 Megapixel CMOS sensor.

The camera merges an f/1.8-2.8, 4.2x lens with Canon’s imaging technologies.

From professional-looking portraits to macro close-ups, the camera’s 24mm ultra-wide and bright f/1.8-2.8 lens with 9-blade aperture, allows users to create background blur, with shallow depth of field.

When combined with the 1.0-type sensor, the PowerShot G7 X excels in low light, providing the flexibility to capture images with vivid colours and low noise, even at ISO 12800.

With the responsiveness and speed of DIGIC 6, Canon’s most powerful image processor, users can feel ready to tackle any fast-paced situation and capture split second action.

The camera features a super-fast AF system which includes 31 points, offering wide and responsive coverage across the frame. It has a continuous shooting speed of 6.5 fps, which can be sustained for up to about 700 frames.

The customisable Lens Control Ring provides full control. Crucial photographic settings, including aperture and shutter speed, are assignable for instant control. A large tilt-up touchscreen allows the user to change setting and view the picture.

Using the Touch AF capability users can select the focus point on screen – ideal for shooting in creative situations, including low angles and macro. When more control is needed, full manual functions give the user command of all camera settings, and the freedom to shoot RAW images with multi-aspect support.

The camera shoots video in Full HD 60p quality while the Advanced Noise Reduction ensures good quality video in low light. Manual Movie offers a range of settings that can be adjusted while filming including aperture, shutter speed and ISO. Footage is kept steady with the adaptive 5-axis Intelligent IS.

The device also features WiFi, allowing users to upload and share images and video wirelessly.
