One of the Middle East’s leading pay-TV networks, OSN, has announced that it will be broadcasting the live action and excitement of the new Indian Super League football championship, which has proven highly popular with the Indian diaspora as the matches are often attended by by their celebrity team owners and fans.
Cricket stars Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly, as well as Bollywood heroes Hrithik Roshan, Abhishek Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor and John Abraham are among the team owners who have made appearances at matches.
The event has generated international interest with pure football fans through the participation of a number of marquee players including Italian footballers Marco Materazzi and Alessandro Del Piero, Swedish player Freddie Ljungberg, England’s David James and France’s Nicolas Anelka, among others.
The Indian Super League features eight teams (Atlético de Kolkata, Chennaiyin FC, Delhi Dynamos, FC Goa, Kerala Blasters, Mumbai City FC, Northeast United and Pune City FC) playing 61 home/away matches. The final will be held on December 20, 2014.
All the matches will be broadcast between OSN Sports 1 HD and OSN Sports 4, the Middle East broadcaster has confirmed.
OSN is making an increasing commitment to showcasing Indian sports, with this announcement coming just days after the broadcaster secured the rights to all ICC events. OSN already broadcasts the Indian Premier League (IPL), Champions League T20, Big Bash league, Caribbean Premier league and all India, England, Australia, Bangladesh and New Zealand home series.
These events are shown in high definition on OSN Sports Cricket HD, bringing live international cricket in true high definition.
