At TV Connect MENA 2014 Pace, the world’s largest set top box provider, showcased its partnership with beIN Sports and focused on the company’s development from a pure set top box producer to a more integrated services provider.
“Pace now has a wide ranging hardware and software portfolio and we have some really strong customers in the region, such as Bein Sports, which we picked up around two years ago when they started really pushing their anti-piracy and security-focused plans,” Peter Simpson, VP product marketing told Digital Broadcast Middle East.
As a provider of premium sports content, one of the key areas of demand in terms of content for the Middle East broadcast sector, beIN Sports have been on the frontline in the battle against privacy, a battle that Pace has been helping them win. “The whole point of the set top box is that it offers a secure platform; the better the content the more likely you are to be pirated, hence their need for our service,” said Peter.
At TV Connect, the primary focus of Pace, however, was to reinforce its development as a company. “Pace has moved from being a traditional hardware manufacturer to being a service provider developing networking equipment, software and various other solutions from TV and broadband to security,” Peter told us.
