Irdeto is a well-established company in the Middle East broadcasting sector, having previously worked with OSN, while other broadcasters and telcos such as Al-Majid are current clients. According to Rob Brown, senior solutions architect at Irdeto, head of TV Connect MENA 2014 they wanted to develop a product that would suit the diverse functionalities that the industry wants from a multiscreen platform.
“We’ve been trying to hone and focus our products in the last year, adding functionalities such as personalisation and targeted advertising, wide-ranging device support including hybrid set-top boxes and an Integrated Management System,” says Rob. “It’s a fast-moving market, especially with new developments like HEVC, but our products are well received in the region and what we’ve seen here at TV Connect MENA has been very positive.”
Current Irdeto clients include Astro On-the-Go in Asia and Multichoice in Africa, although the company is actively targeting the Middle East market and hoping to pick up more local partners. “We are glad to see that even though this is a very competitive market with a number of active solution providers out there, Irdeto Multiscreen was received with a lot of enthusiasm in the region,” Rob told Digital Broadcast Middle East.
According to Rob, the competitive nature of the multi-screen sector makes it difficult for any company to stand out, but their high-profile clients have given Irdeto a strong portfolio to present to the industry. “Astro On-the-Go in Asia and Multichoice in Africa have brought significant prestige and revenue for the company. We’re regular attendees of TV Connect MENA and we were sure to attend this year again, especially since we wanted to exhibit Irdeto Multiscreen.”
