Kratos Integral Systems Europe (Kratos ISE), a provider of satellite control systems, has been awarded a contract to extend the existing Capacity Management Centre (CMC) of Es'hailSat.
The contract with the Qatar Satellite Company will extend the CMC to accommodate the Es'hail-2 satellite, which is scheduled to launch in late 2016. Kratos deployed the existing CMC for Es'hailSat in 2013 and the two companies have worked together since 2012.
The expansion includes a monitoring site at the new Es'hailSat teleport, the provision of four new Kratos-designed earth stations covering the Ku-band and Ka-band mission of the Es'hail-2 satellite, and the extension of the existing frequency planning system.
Two flagship Kratos products will be installed at the teleport. Monics, from SAT Corporation, a Kratos subsidiary, is a leading carrier management solution in the industry and will increase operational efficiency with real time situational awareness for downlinks and uplinks.
The second product, Compass Monitoring & Control (M&C) will improve network resilience by quickly identifying and resolving equipment issues. Kratos will also provide the CMC with data mining capability to leverage advanced Big Data technology to better manage service levels and optimise satellite operations.
"The Kratos team and solutions have proven to be very effective to support our business on Es'hail-1," said Zoubair Kachri, Chief Technical Officer for Es'hailSat. "We look forward to continuing the relationship as we prepare for the launch of Es'hail-2 and our development of Es'hail-3."
