Argosy, an international supplier of HD broadcast cables and studio infrastructure products, has signed a distribution agreement with ATEN, a provider of IT connectivity and management products. Argosy will bring to the broadcast market a range of ATEN products, including KVM (keyboard, video, mouse) switchers and extenders.

With the increasing use of standard computers to provide processing in broadcast and media installations, there is a risk that control rooms will get cluttered with a keyboard and screen for each computer. A KVM solution means a single screen can provide access to multiple computers, simply by switching it to those different computers as required. Taiwan-based ATEN is a market leader in KVM solutions, and it is these that Argosy is bringing to the broadcast market.

The agreement also covers other products from the ATEN range, including format conversion boxes and mains distribution panels (MDUs). These provide an excellent fit to Argosy’s existing range of infrastructure products.

“Computers are of course a central part of any broadcast installation today,” said Chris Smeeton, sales director at Argosy. “Our mission is to make infrastructures as simple, reliable and cost-effective as possible. Good KVM solutions, including KVM drawers for rack mounting, are going to be ever-more important to broadcast engineers, and we are delighted to be able to offer the best to our customer base worldwide.”

Daniel Hinton, sales manager at ATEN, added: “The broadcast industry is increasingly important to us as a market. We are delighted to form a partnership with Argosy, a company we know has an excellent reputation and close relationships with broadcasters and systems integrators worldwide. We look forward to working together to provide products which meet the real needs of broadcast engineers today and into the future.”
The distribution agreement was signed on January 1.
