Alghad Alarabi TV, a television programming and broadcasting company based in London, has become the latest major television network to deploy Avid Everywhere.
The broadcaster has selected Avid’s MediaCentral Platform to allow seamless collaboration between its London headquarters and its new facility in Cairo, which together will coordinate newsroom operations for its regional studios across the Arab world.
Alghad Alarabi needed a system to enable efficient sharing and archiving of assets, videos and projects between its London and Cairo locations. Low bandwidth availability in Egypt made the sharing of proxies between the two sites particularly challenging.
With its London headquarters already using an Avid workflow, Alghad chose to implement the MediaCentral Platform to ensure continuity and compatibility across the network’s systems.
Alghad’s new workflow delivers more integrated, intelligently orchestrated workflows, as well as simplifying remote media and facility access and editing processes.
Alghad TV selected Avid Media Suite solutions, including MediaCentral | UX, iNEWS, iNEWS, Command and Interplay, Production, and Avid Storage Suite’s Airspeed 5000. The network has also chosen Avid Global Services’ project delivery and workflow services to help ensure a smooth launch in Egypt.
Alghad Alarabi is slated to start exploiting its new facilities in Cairo in April, 2015
“To help us access, distribute and monetise our media more efficiently across our network of channels and regions, we required a workflow that was flexible and scalable enough to meet these commercial and operational demands,” said Yasser Youssef, head of technical operations at Alghad Alarabi TV.
“Avid MediaCentral Platform enabled us to collaborate seamlessly across the two continents. It was quite a challenge for us to have one station in London and another in Egypt needing to manage and share assets instantly, efficiently and at low cost. For us, Avid was the only company that was able to offer the complete package of enterprise-level solutions that met our business requirements.”
Amor Elbouhy, territory account manager at Avid, said: “With Avid Everywhere, Alghad is building the infrastructure to facilitate seamless collaboration between editors and journalists. The Avid MediaCentral Platform enables the network to share content between locations in different continents. It’s a great example of an Avid Everywhere success story.”
Headquartered in London, with offices in Washington DC, Dubai, Cairo, Beirut, Sanaa and Palestine, Alghad focuses on delivering news and entertainment, with particular emphasis on providing a young audience with programming suited to its evolving interests and needs.
