UBMS, a Dubai-based distributor of broadcast technology, hosted a media workflow training course accredited by the International Association of Broadcast Manufacturers (IABM) earlier this month.

The two-day training course, which saw 12 students learn about media workflow, featured 13 modules covering the full spectrum of media workflow, from asset creation to storage and broadcast.

The course was delivered by Dick Hobbs, a well-known broadcast consultant and certified trainer from UK.

The course was vendor agnostic but included discussion of the various products from different vendors.

“It was industry oriented and there was no bias to any vendor. It covered media workflow from the beginning, through post production and ingest all the way to delivery,” Peter Kyriakos, head of marketing at UBMS, told Digital Studio. “We talked about various different models of how TV stations can utilise the infrastructure of workflows.

“It was technical in layman’s terms, so it gave a person clear insight even if he didn’t have constant exposure to these types of wordings and technologies,” he added.

The students were from countries across the Middle East and Africa region, including UAE, Qatar, Jordan, Iran and Kenya.

The course was the first time in a number of years that the IABM has conducted a training session in the region. Kyriakos said that he was pleased that UBMS had helped to bring the session to fruition, and added that more IABM accredited courses will take place.
