Dubai-based broadcast technology distributor, UBMS, held an ARRI Lighting Masterclass help develop the lighting skills of about course attendees.

The session, which took place on September 30, was led by lighting expert and media technology engineer, Dennis Jackstien and focused on LED lighting for videography.

The day consisted of a classroom-based session during which the participants learned more about the theoretical aspects of using light for videography, followed by practical hands-on training. For the practical training, the attendees worked in groups of three and explored various lighting scenarios such as working with backlight and operating in a dark room. They tried various lighting techniques, using reflectors, filters, blockers and the like.

“Dennis’s experience added tremendous value to the participants,” said Peter Kyriakos, head of marketing, UBMS. “It was all about passing on knowledge of how to use lighting effectively.”

The participants included a broad range of professionals such as videographers, cinematographers, cameramen and lighting professionals.
