OTT and IPTV software solutions company Anevia, has announced an agreement to acquire French-based video compression software expert Keepixo.

Specialising in the development of video compression software for TV operators for enabling live or near-live broadcasts for multi-screen TV, Keepixo’s existing solutions are sold to more than 150 clients worldwide including ZDF, Altibox and Media Broadcast. Previously, the two companies has announced a strategic partnership to utilise Keepixo software, and provide operators and broadcasters with a ‘one-stop shop’ ultra-low-latency delivery solution for UHD content in OTT environments.

The acquisition will now enable Anevia to offer a new, end-to-end encoding, transcoding, storage, packaging and delivery solution under a single solution for operators and broadcasters. The solution will notably comply with new quality standards, such as 4K HDR and HEVC.

“It’s a truly exciting time for Anevia following the acquisition of Keepixo. With the recent addition of CMAF for ultra-low-latency, Content Aware Encoding and Virtualization, Keepixo products are amongst the best solutions for OTT encoding and are a perfect match with Anevia's existing portfolio.” said Damien Lucas, CTO and co-founder, Anevia.

"Having worked with Anevia on different projects for over 10 years, the synergy of the companies will open up exciting opportunities for us to create more market-leading solutions, drawing a new roadmap of products for Anevia’s future.”Added Jerome Blanc, COO, Keepixo. "We are very pleased to integrate the new Anevia group and proud to bring in additional competencies."

With this acquisition, Anevia will add Genova ultra-low-latency OTT encoders to enlarge its product range of OTT delivery software. The recently updated Flamingo head-end will also benefit from Keepixo's expertise to power multiscreen.

“Moving ahead, we’re looking forward to bringing both Anevia’s and Keepixo’s existing customers a comprehensive and competitive end-to-end OTT solution. By adding video compression software to our existing catalogue, we’re also able to start looking at our next steps, which include the new challenges of live event OTT delivery - such as latency and peak management - as well as Just-In-Time Transcoding for CloudDVR and Edge Transcoding for next generation CDNs,” concluded Lucas.

Anevia will be showcasing its new product range including a demo of ultra-low-latency OTT delivery at NAB Show on stand SU4417 and SU13008CM.

Anevia was founded in 2003 by the developers of the well-known VLC media player, and since then the company has pioneered unique solutions across several fields, including cloud DVR and multi-screen. Anevia’s solutions have been adopted by global TV broadcasters, telecommunication and pay-TV operators, and video service providers.
