MediaKind is the new identity for the Ericsson Media Solutions business. The new brand was launched across the globe in a live global webcast and available to watch on-demand, combined with a series of events around the world. In Dubai, an event was held for channel partners to watch the unveiling of the new brand.
MediaKind announced it's mission will be to lead the future of global media technology and be the first choice for service providers, operators, content owners and broadcasters looking to create and deliver immersive media experiences.
The MediaKind brand launch comes in the wake of a major restructuring by Ericsson of its media and broadcast solutions business over the last year. Late last year, RedBee Media was spun off as an independent broadcast solutions company by Ericsson, while in January of this year Ericsson sold a majority stake in the Ericcson Media Solutions business to US-based private equity firm, One Equity Partners. The MediaKind brand will be carried forward as the transaction between One Equity Partners and Ericsson is completed.
The event also saw the announcement of MediaKind’s global management team, formed of TV, Telco and media veterans. The leadership team is made up of Angel Ruiz, Chief Executive Officer, Gowton Achaibar, COO & Head of R&D, Arun Bhikshesvaran, Chief Marketing Officer, Misty Kawecki, Chief Financial Officer, Mark Russell, Chief Technology & Strategy Officer, and Alex Borland who will head the EMEA sales operations as SVP EMEA Sales.
MediaKind combines the strength and heritage of a number of media technology brands acquired by Ericsson, such as Aspex, Azuki Systems, Envivio, Fabrix, HyCGroup, Microsoft Mediaroom and TANDBERG Television. It currently serves over 900 cable, satellite, telecom service providers and broadcasters around the world including many of the top 10 global operators in satellite, telecom, and broadcast.
MediaKind’s end-to-end video delivery solutions portfolio includes video compression solutions for contribution, direct-to-consumer video service distribution, advertising and content personalization solutions, high-efficiency cloud DVR, and TV and video delivery platforms.
MediaKind said during the brand launch that it will continue its investment into product development to help its customers address the shifting media marketplace. MediaKind will share further insights and showcase its next-generation solutions and applications at the upcoming IBC 2018 show in September.
