Amazon Prime Video has hired Sahar Baghery as senior business development executive for EMEA. Baghery has wide experience in media rights, content strategy and research.

In this newly created position, Baghery will be in charge of expanding Amazon’s business in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and India. She will be based in London. Amazon Prime Video is aiming at a deeper involvement into these markets to widen its global market penetration. The company is looking to partner with local players for original content development and expanding its content offering.

Baghery previously worked at Eurodata TV Worldwide/Mediametrie, where she was in charge of international studies, international TV contents, and global media research and content strategy. Prior to that, she worked for The Walt Disney Co. as marketing supervisor and at Canal Plus Group as a strategy and prospective senior analyst. She has also worked in research and strategy roles for Nielsen, CNN International and NBCUniversal.

Most recently, she worked with the Authors and Composers Society based in France, where she took part in negotiations between producers’ and authors’ guilds. In the role, she worked regularly with digital services players such as Facebook, Apple, Snapchat and YouTube.

Baghery will be attending IBC in Amsterdam along with Amazon Prime colleagues this week.
