Synamedia, the new Permira and Sky-backed technology company that was created from the sale of Cisco’s service provider video business, has made two key technology hires.
Dubai based pay-TV operator OSN's Chief Technology Officer Mark Billinge has joined Synamedia as VP of operations and services product management and Kaltura's Avidan Lamdan joins as VP of platform product management.
A veteran of the Middle East broadcast industry, Mark Billinge joins Synamedia from DTH satellite operator OSN, where he spent 12 years managing the technical operations, the last six as CTO. As chief technology officer at OSN, he led several key projects including the launch of streaming platforms and the migration to HD.
In his new role, Billinge will bring his operations experience to help Synamedia optimize its operations. His role will also involve heading Synamedia’s services product management team, ensuring that Synamedia's range of services is aligned with customers’ needs and the growing product portfolio.
“I look forward to bringing my operator viewpoint to shape products and services at Synamedia,” said Billinge.
“The energy around Synamedia’s proposition and vision is attracting exceptional new talent from across the industry. While Mark brings a deep understanding of customers’ pain points and challenges and operational expertise, Avidan’s track record in OTT and cloud-based services is second to none. These new hires will help us continue to deliver innovative solutions and services that help pay-TV broadcasters, web services and media owners transform their businesses and embrace the new world of infinite entertainment,” added Jean-Marc Racine, Chief Product Officer and General Manager EMEA, Synamedia.
