OSN expands HD bouquet

In keeping with its promise to expand its HD bouquet by summer, Orbit Showtime Network (OSN) will deliver six more HD channels to its viewers, DMPE.com can reveal.

The new additions will bring the total number of HD channels from OSN to nine. The HD bouquet is the pay TV operator’s attempt to ensure that subscribers continue to tune into its network although it will not be able to showcase the English Premier League (EPL) on its channels for the next three seasons.

The new channels include Sundance channel HD, Outdoor channel HD, Food Network HD, Fashion TV HD, Fox Sports HD and Showsports 1 HD.

Commenting on the expansion, Marc-Antoine d’Halluin, CEO, OSN stated: “HD is the biggest development to happen in TV in the last 15 years. Today, less than ten months since Orbit and Showtime merged, we are very proud to be the first network to offer subscribers a line-up of nine exclusive HD channels from world-renowned brands. The line-up will elevate viewers’ TV experience to new heights, by bringing entertainment to life with vibrant colours and superb quality sound creating a completely unique television experience.”

OSN is presently the only pay TV operator in the Middle East to offer HD with Dolby Digital surround sound experience to TV viewers.

The pay TV operator is presently in the process of swapping subscriber’s Showtime boxes with its new OSN decoders. Viewers will require the new decoders – that are especially designed to counter piracy – to enjoy the High Definition experience.
