Security is generally focussed on keeping the general public out of VIP areas at events, not keeping those VIP’s in – but that’s exactly what happened to singer Gloria Estefan last week.
In a suite at Sun Life Stadium in Miami watching the local Dolphins play the New York Jets, Estefan was due to introduce Latin singer Enrique Iglesias during the halftime show – but found she was locked inside.
A locksmith, security officers and fire-fighters tried unsuccessfully to unlock her door, so Estefan took matters into her own hands. Reports suggest that in a scene resembling something out of a cheesy movie, Estefan kicked off her high heels (which were green to match her favourite team’s colours, of course), climbed out the window into the suite next door and managed to run down to the field, arriving just in time.
