Grammy-award winner Nelly Furtado made her Middle East debut in Abu Dhabi on Friday in front of more than 13,000 screaming fans at Yas Arena for Flash Entertainment’s second Yas Island Show Weekend.
Supported by UK urban artists Tinchy Stryder and Taio Cruz and the Canadian superstar Nelly Furtado wowed the audience with her latest and greatest hits, including I’m Like a Bird, Maneater and Say it Right.

With a series of themed weekends planned in the next few weeks – NBA Jamfest Abu Dhabi 2010, Creamfields and Guns N’ Roses, Flash has developed a programme, which offers something for everyone; from sports to concerts to a celebration of the UAE’s National heritage. In keeping with Abu Dhabi’s mission of bringing top entertainment and culture to the region, Flash continues to offer internationally acclaimed edutainment weekend after weekend.
Last night’s headline concert was just one of the crowd pleasing activities held on Yas Island this weekend, as graffiti artists, street jugglers, and B-boy break dancers entertained people at the Flash Forum. The free community events also included Leave Your Mark On Yas, which had world-renowned graffiti artist Inkie and other top ‘street’ artists from the UK and the UAE design an astounding 60 metre mural and conducted free art workshops.
Looking forward to weekend three of the Yas Island Show Weekends, basketball fans are in for a treat as the inaugural NBA Jamfest Abu Dhabi 2010 will be the next event held at the Flash Forum. NBA hall of famer Hakeem Olajuwan, will be one of the star attractions at the special weekend of free basketball events including skills clinics and demonstrations, the New York Knicks dance team, autograph signings and many more.
