At TV Connect MENA this year, Harmonic targeted its Middle East with two products on display: Polaris, the company’s new suite of playout management tools, and VOS, a powerful, software-based, fully virtualisable platform that unifies the entire media processing chain for broadcast and multiscreen distribution.
The Polari suite of playout management tools is tightly integrated with Harmonic’s market-leading Spectru media server family and designed to address the full range of playout applications for broadcasters.
The Polaris suite represents Harmonic’s first offering in the emerging category of media orchestration, a function that is important as workflows consolidate and simplify, and as video delivery becomes virtualised.
Harmonic VOS is a powerful software-based, fully virtualisable platform that unifies the entire media processing chain for broadcast and multiscreen distribution.
Enabling the key functions of video delivery infrastructure — including ingest, compression, graphics and branding, packaging, and delivery — on common hardware platforms, the VOS architecture leverages IT economics to enable content and service providers to simplify workflows, maximise flexibility, gain operational efficiency, and lower their total cost of ownership.
“TV Connect is an important event for us because it’s a unique opportunity to share our product innovations with Middle Eastern and North African audiences,” says Jean-Pierre Mace, managing director, Harmonic International Dubai Branch. “Polaris, VOS, and our other market-leading solutions optimise the production and delivery of high-value video services in the broadcast, pay-TV, and new media environments.”
