OSN, through its channel partner, TFC (The Filipino Channel), has announced that it will bring exclusive direct-to-home coverage of the much-awaited boxing contest between Floyd Mayweather Jr and Manny Pacquiao taking place in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, on Sunday, May 3rd, 2015.
Billed as the ’Fight of the Century’ between eight-division world champion Pacquiao, 36, and five-division world champion, Mayweather Jr, 38, the event is expected to shatter pay-per-view records, earning millions of dollars with live event ticket prices ranging from US$3,500 to US$25,000.
Boxing experts say this match could be the richest fight in history and may generate between US$300-US$400 million. Floyd Mayweather Jr is expected to make US$119 million from the fight, whilst Manny Pacquiao will earn US$78 million. The referee for the fight, expected to be either Kenny Bayless or Tony Weeks, will receive US$10,000.
The two future ’Hall of Famers’ have been in negotiations to organise the match for some time, with personal commitments and a dispute over a suitable location the main points of contention. Both athletes have impressive records; Mayweather has won 47 out of 47 contests, with Pacquiao recording 57 wins, 5 losses and 2 draws.
Fans will be able to watch the Mayweather-Pacquiao match on OSN Sports Box Office HD (channel 31) after subscribing to pay-per-view, giving them exclusive access to the live airing of the match on May 3rd, at 4am KSA time (5am UAE) with three replays of the fight shown throughout the day.
