Dubai-based independent cinema house Cinema Akil has partnered with Mubi, a VOD platform for indie films, to offer a 90-day free movie streaming.

Cinema Akil remains closed to curb the spread of the coronavirus disease.

30 films will be on rotating selection each month hand-picked by Cinema Akil and Mubi. Films will be hand-picked each day and will be added to the platform.

A few of the films available on the platform currently are:
3 Idiots, directed by Rajkumar Hirani, India.

Journey To The Shore Kishibe No Tabi, directed by Kiyoshi Kurosawa, Singapore.

Ilo Ilo, directed by Anthony Chen, United States.

Our Daily Bread, directed by King Vidor, United States.

Butheina Kazim, founder of Cinema Akil said: “We at Cinema Akil, have always held the belief in community and its magical ability to pull together: this time to stay at home. For over a year, Cinema Akil time and time again asked our audiences to follow us into the dark; and when they can’t follow us, we try our best to bring the dark to them. During this period that we honour  our commitment to protect our community and practice social distancing, we have teamed up with Mubi; the independent video-on-demand platform to bring our audiences three months of free arthouse films (30 films a month) to join them on their screens.”
