Following the last-minute cancellation of DJ Tiesto’s gig in Abu Dhabi in October, promoter Flash has announced that the artist will be back in the Capital on February 17, 2011. This time, however, Flash have chosen a new venue, with Tiesto scheduled to play at the Flash Forum, on Yas Island.
The superstar DJ’s gig was called off hours before it was due to commence at ADNEC in October, with sources revealing exclusively to DPME.com that inadequate sound checks had failed to detect problems with the venues sound system in advance. Chunks of masonry were said to have fallen from the ceiling as an over-loaded rig vibrated with the poorly tuned system.
Flash Forum, a semi-permanent venue on Yas Island spanning 84 metres in the form of a ‘SupaDome’ structure, played host to an intimate performance by the legendary Prince during last month’s 2010 Abu Dhabi Formula 1 Grand Prix.
A spokesperson from Flash said: “We are delighted that Tiësto has found time in his busy schedule to come back to Abu Dhabi. We have worked hard with Tiësto to reschedule this new date and deliver on our promise, as we know how many people have been looking forward to this. It is fitting that our first announced event for our 2011 Yas Island Show Weekend is Tiësto – we can’t wait to welcome him back.”
Tiësto himself added: “This year I have concentrated all my energy on the Kaleidoscope World Tour and Abu Dhabi was a destination I was really looking forward to playing. I can’t wait to return and finally give my fans the show that they have all been waiting for. I plan to have my tour’s last stop in Abu Dhabi and make this show an unforgettable one.
Tickets for the revised show will go on sale from December 16.
