White Dubai, the largest club in the Middle East, opened its doors for a third season with a ‘reality-altering’ entertainment technology experience, featuring lighting shows, effects and a cutting-edge video mapping show on a 3D video wall.
Located on the rooftop of the Meydan Grandstand in Dubai, the club’s opening party saw professional audio, lighting and video equipment supplier, Procom Middle East, team up with Addmind, the company owner and manager of White Club, club lighting designer Dave Parry from Most Technical, and video design/production firm Immersive.
On lighting, more than 350 fixtures were deployed. Parry’s design included around 100 LED washes (effect delivered by the Cyclops Zoom 37 and CPX436-MZ), 50 hybrid spot beam wash moving head Cyclops CL350 – SBW and over 150 Cyclops CL-280B and CL-230B beam moving head in addition to 200 pixel mapping bars and other fixtures.
The Philips Showline SL Nitro C LED strobe luminaire circled the venue providing intense bursts of lights in addition to intense washes of the venue. The full set-up was controlled by Avolites Pearl Expert Pro with touch wing and two Avolites Titan Net Processors, expanding the universes controlled and providing increased reliability and control over the massive lighting set-up. Tony Chidiac and Ross Chapple did the programming of the full lighting set-up.
On the video mapping, two Avolites AI media server S4 servers were deployed to control over 150sqm of LED screens and over 200 pixel bars. The Avolites media server gives a superior live control of the media mapping on the complex LED screens set-up, including media modification to accommodate last minute set up changes. John Munro and Martin Harvey designed the video mapping and produced the video for the venue.
On the rigging side of things, the club structure – built from the ground up using Eurotruss trusses – is now dominated by four concentric circles (10m, 8m,6m,4m) above the club’s bar area in the middle controlled by Chainmaster chain hoists. Another circle also covers the area in front of the DJ and includes extra Cyclops CL-280 Beams, the vertical trusses also hold beams as well as SL Nitro C LED strobes.
Dave Parry, lighting designer of the club, said: “Working alongside Procom gave us the opportunity to add an extra dimension to the space and to exceed the owners brief. Tthe beautiful set-up and environment in addition to the quantity and sophistication of the equipment deployed have allowed us to create one of the best nightclub venues in the world.”
