The Nexo Soundcheck, in conjunction with V.V. & Sons — the brand’s distributor for the region, recently arrived in Dubai for a special one-day ETC training seminar, followed by a live demonstration of its latest compact line-array products the GEO M6 and the STM Series.
On the first day of the event, Nexo’s training manager and concert sound specialist Val Gilbert conducted a one-day ETC1 training seminar. ETC is the company’s Education, Training and Certification programme, and the ETC1 module covers the fundamentals, from the classic point-source Alpha Series systems to the present-day flagship STM Series of scalable line array elements.
The course included an overview of Nexo’s proprietary processing and amplification, and NS-1 system modelling software, before giving hands-on practical training on the GEO S12 line array.
The following day, Dubai’s audio community joined together at the Intercontinental Hotel in Festival City for a demonstration of the new compact line arrays, namely the GEO M6 and the STM M28. The GEO M6 compact line array produces astonishing SPL output and clarity for its size, and offers an array of configuration options. In pole-mounting, wall-mounting, flown array or under-balcony mode, the M620 can be paired with the GEO M6B low-frequency extension box to handle full-on line array applications in very large rooms.
To show the full impact of the STM M28 line array cabinet, Nexo arranged both indoor and outdoor demos so the small — yet loud — system could shine.
At 575mm wide with 141dB peak SPL, 90°/120° horizontal dispersion and 0°-15° splaying angle between modules, the cabinet can go from a club PA to a 5,000-capacity festival. And, under the Dubai sun with the dulcet tones of John Mayer floating out over the creek, NEXO’s own mini-festival was a fitting way to announce the GEO M6 and STM M28’s first official appearance in the region.
