RTS Intercom will hold a event for regional broadcasters and media in Dubai on May 8 to mark the regional launch of the ODIN single rack unit, the latest product in its IP intercom line. The event held at the Arjaan Rotan in Dubai Media City will also feature a discussion on IP trends in Broadcast, and RTS will use the opportunity to elaborate on the product - market positioning with Sanjay Kumar, Sales Manager Middle East & Africa.
Josef Penker, Sales Director, Europe, Middle East & Africa will deliver the welcome address and Shawn Anderson, Head of product management - RTS global will introduce the ODIN and demonstrate how it can help broadcasters and studios revolutionize the intercom system in one rack unit.
RTS recently used the 2018 NAB Show to highlight the continuing development of its IP intercom product line. The company’s latest product to be based on IP technology is the ODIN OMNEO digital matrix, a single rack unit that is able to work with RTS’ other recent IP introductions, including the ROAMEO wireless system and KP-Series panels, as well as existing analogue key panels.
Where previous-generation digital matrix products were significantly larger and more costly to own and operate, ODIN’s feature set and form factor are designed to make a professional matrix solution more accessible and easier to use than ever before, opening up the benefits of IP-based communications for wide range of new markets and users of all levels.
Based on RTS' OMNEO networking platform, which uses Dante audio over IP (AoIP) for media transport and OCA (Open Control Architecture) to control operations, ODIN can be integrated to form large-scale communication installations. It is able to be built up from an initial 16-ports to 128-ports. By using an optical Inter-Frame Link connection, eight ODIN units can produce up to 1024 ports.
In the broadcast market ODIN is aimed at both OB trucks and TV studio control rooms where space is at a premium and budgets tight. As well as featuring Dante, it is compatible with both the AES67 AoIP interoperability and AES70 open control architecture standards. Operation, set-up and configuration of ODIN is carried out through a colour graphical interface. RTS has updated the AZedit and IPedit software programs to run more advanced configuring functions.
As well as connections for OMNEO and IP, based on RJ45 circuits, ODIN is also able to work with analogue two and four-wire intercom systems. In addition it can interconnect with DECT-based ROAMEO wireless belt packs and DK-Series key panels.
